How to Stop Overthinking and Start Releasing Music: Madeleine’s One-Song-a-Month Approach

Most artists spend months sitting on songs. Madeleine decided to stop waiting.
At the start of 2025, she set herself a simple rule: release one song every month. No endless tweaking, no second guessing, just finish it and put it out.
It worked.
Since then, she’s released over 15 tracks, all written and recorded from her bedroom, with another on the way. But this isn’t just about consistency. It’s about building a sound that stands out.

Turning Procrastination Into Momentum
For a lot of independent artists, the biggest barrier isn’t talent, it’s overthinking.
Madeleine flipped that completely.
Instead of chasing perfection, she focused on output. The result is a growing catalogue of songs that feel fully realised, confident and unafraid to take up space.
It’s a reminder that sometimes the best way forward is simply to start.
A Sound That Goes All In

Musically, Madeleine isn’t playing it safe.
Her sound blends jazz, soul, blues, funk and pop, but it’s the delivery that makes it hit differently. She describes it as a former theatre kid making powerhouse tunes, and that energy runs through everything she releases.
Expect:
Big, expressive vocals
Dramatic, story-led songwriting
A jazz club band feel with a modern edge
It’s bold, theatrical and built for listeners who want something with personality.
Breaking Into the Dorset Scene
After nearly five years in Brighton, Madeleine returned to the New Forest and found herself starting from scratch locally.
Like many artists, getting into the scene wasn’t immediate.
That changed after meeting guitarist Keanu Ienco, who brought her in to perform at The Branksome. From there, connections started to build and momentum followed.
A Moment That Clicked
One of her standout shows so far came at a sold-out night at The Brunswick Jazz Club.
Blending drag, comedy and live music, the performance ended with a crowd singing along to her original tracks, the kind of moment that confirms things are moving in the right direction.
What’s Next
The release schedule isn’t slowing down.
Next up is ‘Little Love’, out on 8 May, a funk-driven track about knowing your worth.

More releases are lined up throughout the year, including:
Daddy’s Attitude – a bluesy, Bond-inspired track
There Will Be Music – a Motown-style celebration of real musicianship
Your Man’s Brother – an 80s pop moment with a personal twist
Bad Habits – a pop-funk confession
Whenever You Are Ready – a soulful, reflective release
One to Watch in Dorset
In a scene where it’s easy to get stuck waiting for the right moment, Madeleine has taken a different approach.
Make the music. Finish it. Put it out.
And in doing so, she’s not just building a catalogue, she’s building a sound that’s hard to ignore.
