Meet Riley Jayne, a Cornwall and Dorset-based singer songwriter who has finally decided to give her music the spotlight it deserves. After years of self-doubt, Riley is stepping forward with a sound she describes as “unique, mellow, and hopefully like a hug” – songs that feel personal, healing and refreshingly authentic.
From Self-Doubt to Saying Yes
For Riley, music has always been part of her life, but putting herself out there took courage. “I’ve always let my self-doubt get in the way,” she admits. “This year I decided to just go for it and see what happens.”
That decision wasn’t just about chasing a dream – it was about honouring what music has always meant to her. “Music is free therapy. It has helped me through a lot of hard times in my life, so now I’m hoping to use my music to help others through theirs.”
The Sound of Riley Jayne
Trying to pin Riley down to a single style is tricky – and that’s exactly the point. Her songs shift between moods and moments, sometimes mellow and soft, sometimes more powerful and commanding. What ties them together is sincerity. “I don’t think you could compare me to another singular artist,” she says. “Each song feels different, but all of them carry part of me.”
One track that feels particularly special is The Last Goodbye. “It’s just so powerful,” Riley explains. “I enjoy singing it because it feels so easy – it flows.”
Milestones Along the Way
Though still relatively new to Dorset’s music scene, Riley has already made some unforgettable memories. One highlight was performing a live session for BBC Introducing in the South West – “super surreal,” she calls it, and a moment that affirmed she was on the right path.
Another came during the pandemic, when her Christmas song and accompanying video raised around £3,000 for charity. With members of the public contributing clips for the project, it became a moving community moment. “It was very emotional and I still get goosebumps watching it back,” Riley says.
Of course, not every gig goes smoothly. At a recent market performance, the wind had other plans. “It picked up so intensely that it blew over my stands and sent my tablet – with no screen protector – flying,” she laughs. Stressful at the time, but a story to remember.
Looking Ahead

The future is shaping up to be exciting for Riley Jayne. She has new singles lined up for release, a London show in September, and ambitions to form a full band. “Watch this space,” she smiles.
In the meantime, her songs are already reaching listeners across platforms, bringing comfort, connection and honesty.
