The Undecided: Weymouth’s Loudest and Liveliest Covers Crew

If you’ve ever stumbled into a Dorset pub and found yourself dancing to a riotous blend of Britpop bangers, indie anthems and pop-punk classics, chances are The Undecided were behind the noise. This young four-piece from Weymouth have been bringing their high-energy sound to stages since they were barely teenagers, and they show no signs of turning it down any time soon.

From School Friends to Crowd Favourites

It all started in primary school when frontman and vocalist first met Toby, the band’s lead guitarist. By secondary school, Toby had already formed a band with some mates and was juggling vocal duties with the bass player. But something was missing. Toby’s mum remembered a schoolmate with a strong voice and reached out. One tryout later, the lineup clicked and The Undecided were born.

Since then, they’ve grown together not just as bandmates, but as friends with a shared love for music and live performance. And while some members have come and gone, the heart of the group remains the same.

Loud, Creative, and Totally Unapologetic

Their sound? Indie rock meets Britpop with a splash of pop punk. Think high volume, inventive takes on classic tunes and a live show that’s always full of surprises. “We add our own spin on songs,” they explain.

“They rarely sound like the original versions, and that’s how we like it.”

It’s not just the setlist that keeps crowds coming back. Toby and Zak, who make up half the band, are described as two of the most talented musicians their frontman has ever worked with. When the guitars start roaring and the energy spikes, it’s impossible not to get pulled in.

Rooted in Dorset’s Music Scene

Being part of the Dorset music scene has been a major part of the band’s development. From jamming with The Leggomen to getting support from acts like Milk & Two, Under The Carousel and Blazin Strings, the scene has given The Undecided both opportunity and inspiration.

There’s also a strong family connection. “My mum’s been gigging around here since before I was born,” the frontman adds. “She’s helped us loads.”

Quayside Beginnings and Local Legends

One standout moment in the band’s journey was playing Quayside when they were just 13 or 14. It was their biggest crowd to date at the time and a real turning point. “They made it feel special for us,” they recall. “It was the moment things really kicked off.”

Since then, the band have kept a busy schedule, gigging nearly every weekend across Weymouth and beyond.

Memorable Moments and Mid-Gig Nosebleeds

From bouncing Wednesday nights at The Nook to spontaneous singalongs at packed pub gigs, The Undecided have had their fair share of unforgettable shows. One personal highlight? A set following England’s win over the Netherlands, when the crowd was electric and the energy unmatched.

Then there are the unexpected moments. “We’ve had plenty of drunk dancers fall over,” they laugh. “But one of the best was when Toby got a nosebleed mid-song, shoved a tissue in and leaned on the mic stand to keep playing without missing a beat. The crowd loved it.”

What’s Next for The Undecided?

For now, they’re sticking to what they do best: gigging hard, playing loud and making sure every venue gets the full Undecided experience. Festival slots have slowed a little, but the bookings are still rolling in and the band are as busy as ever.

There may be original music on the cards again in the future, but for now, their focus is on the covers that fans know and love. Toby and the frontman also work on original side projects, so there’s no shortage of creative output.
