Most record labels start with investors, business plans and years of plotting. Burton Chapel Records started with a conversation between mates. One of them had been signed to a major, dropped, and left wondering what to do next. The answer was simple:
“Let’s start our own label.”
No money, no grand strategy, just passion and persistence. Out of that moment, Burton Chapel Records was born.
The name comes from Burton Road in Wool, where the first late-night chats and creative ideas took shape inside a converted chapel. What began as a spark has grown into one of the most exciting independent labels to come out of Dorset in years.
Built by Artists, for Artists
At its heart, Burton Chapel Records is about supporting musicians rather than exploiting them. This is a label created by artists, for artists. The contracts are designed to put talent first, and the team are hands-on from writing and recording to marketing and live shows.
Unlike majors chasing the next big hit, Burton Chapel puts its faith in undiscovered voices — the ones who might not have the budget, connections or team behind them, but have something worth sharing. That artist-first approach has attracted names like George Moir and, previously, Yxngxr1, with whom the label released a string of successful singles that pushed Burton Chapel’s reputation to new heights.
And their roster continues to shine. Just this summer, George Moir took to the stage at Boardmasters Festival, performing to thousands and proving that Burton Chapel’s way of working is helping its artists step onto bigger stages.
Dorset Roots, Wider Reach

The label may have its headquarters in Weymouth, but its influence stretches far beyond the Dorset coast. With signings from across the UK and Europe, Burton Chapel is steadily growing, bringing together a mix of sounds and stories.
Even so, Dorset remains at its core. The beaches, the people and the calm of the county inspire everything the label does. It is about more than releasing music — it is about building a creative community right here on the south coast.
2025 and Beyond
Mid-2025 marks a fresh chapter for Burton Chapel Records. The label is lining up new releases, with plenty of live events in the works designed to showcase their artists and bring Dorset fans closer to the action.
But perhaps the biggest success story is the sense of family that surrounds the label. “The best way to support us? Keep listening,” they say. For Burton Chapel, it is not just about streams or ticket sales, it is about a community of listeners who grow alongside the artists.
