Tristan Hutton: The Country Singer-Songwriter Making Waves in Dorset

Updated: Jun 24

Country music isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the UK music scene, but Tristan Hutton is here to change that. A singer-songwriter from Wimborne, he’s been crafting his own brand of contemporary country, and in just over a year and a half, he’s gone from learning production to dropping his debut EP and securing festival slots. With new music on the way and some major gigs in the diary, it’s safe to say things are only just getting started.

From Songwriting to Spotlight

For Tristan, music has always been part of the picture, but it wasn’t until about 18 months ago that he started writing songs and learning the ins and outs of production. Fast forward to a few months ago, and he released his debut EP, Thirty Something Symphony—a heartfelt collection of songs exploring love, family, nostalgia, and navigating adulthood.

“It’s the story of your average thirty-something father, pretending like I know what I’m doing,” he laughs. “It’s all in there—the self-doubt, the courage, and my newfound love for contemporary country music.”

Finding His Sound

Tristan’s music blends elements of contemporary country, pop, and Americana, with a little soft rock thrown in for good measure. Think smooth melodies, storytelling lyrics, and plenty of heart. “I’d call it pop-country,” he says, “but I pull influences from all over. Country music is evolving, and I love that it can be so many different things.”

Dorset’s Growing Music Scene

There’s a lot happening in Dorset, and Tristan has been soaking it all up. “The music community here is really strong, and I’ve loved getting to know other musicians, producers, and venue owners,” he says. “There’s such a variety of places to play—seafront restaurants, basement bars, and everything in between.”

Tristan is also a regular at Wimborne’s open mic nights, honing his craft and making connections. “It’s such a great way to get experience and try out new material,” he adds.

Big Moments, Big Venues

The first gig is always a milestone, and for Tristan, that moment came at The Tap and Grape in Broadstone last year. “That was a big one for me,” he admits. “It was nerve-racking, but it gave me the confidence to approach more venues.”

Since then, he’s played at some of his dream spots, including The Honky Tonk Collective in Hamworthy—a venue tailor-made for his style of music. But his biggest gig so far? That would be Lil’ Nashville in London.

“It was packed, with queues down the street! It was surreal, and I’ve been asked back in July, which is such an honour.”

Dream Collabs and Unexpected Moments

When it comes to dream collaborations, Tristan doesn’t hesitate. “Keith Urban, hands down,” he says. “He’s such a talented musician and still a purist at heart. But if he’s busy, I’d have to say Luke Combs.”

As for unexpected gig moments? “I got mobbed by a hen party in London who thought I was famous,” he laughs. “Must’ve been the bubbly!”

What’s Next?

On the recording front, he’s been busy in his home studio, with his new single One More Day out now, followed by two more singles over the summer. “There’s a lot in the works,” he teases. “I can’t wait to share it all.”

Where to Listen

Tristan’s music is available on all major streaming platforms, so whether you’re a Spotify, Apple Music, or Amazon Music kind of person, you can tune in and get a taste of what he’s all about.

With his feet firmly planted in the UK country scene and big things on the horizon, Tristan Hutton is an artist you’ll want to keep on your radar. Watch this space—there’s plenty more to come.
