Leonian Dream: The Indie Rock Band You Need to Know in 2025

🎶 The Sound of the indie rock band Leonian Dream

Dreamy yet dynamic, Leonian Dream are carving out a space in the UK’s indie rock scene with their unique blend of ethereal melodies, punchy guitar riffs, and raw, emotive storytelling. Since forming in 2021, the band has been steadily building momentum, and with a big year ahead, they’re showing no signs of slowing down.

From a Duo to a Dream Team

It all started with Leonie (lead vocals, guitar) and Tom (backing vocals, lead guitar) gigging as an acoustic duo, winning over local crowds with their stripped-back sets. But they wanted to take things up a notch. Enter Bran (bass), Ben (keys), and Toby (drums), the final pieces of the puzzle. Now a fully formed five-piece, the band has locked into a sound that’s as expansive as it is intimate. “Since September 2024, we’ve been playing together as this lineup, and it’s just clicked,” they say. “It’s been the best version of the band yet.”

The Sound of Leonian Dream

Think soaring, atmospheric guitar lines, hazy vocals that can switch from delicate to powerful in an instant, and a rhythm section that keeps everything tight yet unpredictable. “We pull from so many influences,” they explain.

“Indie rock, alternative, modern rock – there’s a lot of Wolf Alice and Annie Hamilton in there, but we’re always experimenting.”

The result? A sound that’s equal parts dreamy and high-energy, guaranteed to pull you in and keep you hooked.

Cracking Dorset’s Music Scene

Despite Dorset’s grassroots music scene offering a strong sense of community, breaking through hasn’t been without its challenges. “There are loads of great venues, but we’d love to see more spaces and events popping up,” they say. “We’ve got big plans to play more in Bournemouth and beyond.” Their home turf, however, holds a special place in their hearts, especially The Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis. “It’s been huge for us – we launched our debut album Metamorphosisthere, and it was the perfect venue for our debut EP Leonian Dream. We’ll always come back to it.”

Big Gigs, Big Moments

If you ask them to name a career highlight, two moments stand out. First, supporting Annie Hamilton at Rough Trade Bristol. “That one was unreal,” Leonie says. “When her support act dropped out, I just knew we had to get in there.” The second? A packed-out show at The Marine Theatre in January 2025. “Hearing people singing back our songs – that was a moment we’ll never forget.”

The Songs That Hit the Hardest

Every band member has their personal favourite when it comes to playing live. “For me, it’s Greenhouse,” Leonie admits. “It’s always the track that gets the crowd singing along, and that connection is everything.” Tom, on the other hand, is all about Red Water Lily, thanks to its killer guitar parts.
